Mobile Phone Use: Safety Precautions.

Your mobile phone is a handy piece of electronic gadget and its usage goes with a lot of safety concerns. One is aware that as long as the phone is ‘on’, calls and alerts can come in any time. This implies therefore that there is need for one to be mindful of ones’ immediate environment as long as the phone is handy. Most phone and network manuals usually would have guidelines on safety standards. Failure to comply with them are likely to be very dangerous and in violation of applicable laws. We advise that one makes the effort to acquaint oneself with the relevant legislations since the use of the phone is subject to safety measures designed to protect users and the environment. Because safety issues are a major part of our existence, the following concerns should be of interest to one and all.

ROAD SAFETY:This will always come first since ones’ life and that of others may be at risk if this is ignored. Necessary accessories should be installed and used while driving to avoid distractions. Checks should be conducted regularly to ensure that they are working perfectly. All laws with regards to this should be obeyed and one is advised to have updates especially if one is always ‘mobile’ or on ‘trips’ since these laws vary from place to place. Even with a ‘hands-free’, a driver that spends a lot of time taking calls, is likely to waste more time on the journey but he or she will get there in one piece. Depending on ones’ situation , it is always better to have the voicemail on while driving or step aside, take the call and bounce back.

OPERATING ENVIRONMENT:There are restrictions with regards to use of mobile phones in places such as libraries, theatres, classrooms, churches and mosques. Common sense would demand that one switches off on solemn accasions such as burials. Because the phone is an electronic equipment, one is expected to put it off at places like hospitals, blast sites , onboard aircrafts and some other places where highly inflammable materials are part of the environment. In such places, one is expected to switch off to avoid interference or damage to equipments. If one has personal medical devices, one should seek relevant information from appropriate authority before using it with a mobile phone. Failure to observe these phone use restrictions, may lead to unpleasant consequences.

Regulations with regards to disposal of dead phones and recycling of materials should be adhered to, avoiding applicable legislation. While using ones’ phone, one should observe all laws and respect the privacy and legitimate rights of others including when it comes to taking pictures and video clips. One should not turn the phone on or off very close to the ear and volume levels should be reasonable to avoid damage to ones’ hearing ability. The phone should not be handled with wet hands especially during charging to avoid elecric shock or damage to the equipment.

Additional information on some other safety concerns like exposure to radio waves is available at WHO website-http://www.who.int/peh-emf and at MMF website at www.mmfai.org
Because of the rapidity with which technolgy is improving in the mobile phone industry, some of the positions taken here could become obsolete in no distant future.

WHY AND HOW THE PHONE BATTERY MUST BE CARED FOR!!!

Lives have been lost and lives have been saved because a call was put through at the nick of time.Am talking about emergency situations here. The mobile phone has become such an integral part of our daily lives that one needs to always take all necessary steps to keep the battery in tiptop condition. This is to ensure that when the need arises,"the call" could be made.Since the advent of the mobile phone coupled with the internet, alot of people now use their homes as their offices too. With threats of terrorism and crimes, natural disasters and other forms of accidents coupled with independent life styles on the upsurge,it is only desirable that no effort should be spared in ensuring that calls can be made when necessary.
Some phone manufacturers have produced heavy duty batteries with extended life span. The only snag here is that some of them don't fit like the usual and therefore with it, the phone may appear heavier and may not fit properly into pouches and pockets like the usual. If safety and longer life span is taken into consideration, that would make up for the inconviniences.Over time and with improvement in technology, something better would be available soon. Some phones come with energy saving feature. This function deactivates both screen and backlight thereby conserving power.
Any and everything that would cost the phone to operate at a higher power level thereby shortening talk and standby times should be avoided depending on one's situation.
In any case, the following steps and tips should be noted:
First of all,do not press the keys if there is no need since each keypress activates the backlight and reduces the power.High capacity cell phone batteries will avail one of more talk and standby time.
New batteries on the long run would be cheaper over refurbished ones as long as the phones' charging system is okay.Batteries with scratches at the metal tips that contact with that of the phone means that the battery may not be new.
Cell phones with warranties would give room for replacement if the battery does not perform properly within a certain time.
Batteries that are not charged often last longer and batteries should not be left charging over night for any reason whatsoever.
Because the phone is an electronic device, wet and extreme weather conditions, should be avoided.
Using the phone helps the battery instead of leaving it dormant. The battery should be taken out if it is not to be used for an extended period of time. The battery may fail to come on if left idle for a long time.In this case, see an authorised technician to 'boost' it.
To conserve power, the screen display should not be made too bright and the standby made short between calls.
The bluetooth feature should not be left on if not in use.Apart from exposing the system to all sorts of viruses,it depletes battery power.
If the phone is made to ring and vibrate at the same time, the battery life would be affected.Any of the alert type chosen should not be left for too long before calls are taken and it is advisable to use only the options and accessories that are needed.
Wifi and 3G features/facilities are better activated on need to use basis in other to conserve battery strength. If one's battery is going down, wallpapers, screensavers, games, videos and the likes should be put on hold.Power is required to display any of these.
The need to take care of the cell phone battery cannot be over emphasised. In times of emergency, one's life or that of a loved one or even the interest of a people could depend on one phone call made at the nick of time.Simple care for the battery bacause of its importance would go a long way in making sure that it is there for you when it is needed most.

GETTING STARTED BUT FIRST THINGS FIRST.

CONGRATULATIONS.We would like to assume that based on our advice below, someone out there went and bought a gsm phone after doing all the asking and researching required before investing on a phone and choosing a network. The whole idea is to get the best out of the phone and the best from the service provider. These days, there are phones with a thousand and one features, all aimed at making life more comfortable for gsm phone users and there are service providers with fantastic offers allover the world.
Every phone manufacturer has its own standard when it comes to charging the phone for the first time.THIS FIRST CHARGING IS VERY IMPORTANT.Time was when one was expected to charge a phone for upwards of 18hours to get the best out of the battery.Over time and with improved technology some phones now get fully charged for the first time after an hour and half.We are dwelling so much on this first time charging because the lifespan or durability of the battery is dependent on this simple but very important factor. In our so many years of gsm phone business,we have observed that a lot of phone users never paid any attention to this issue much to their peril. What is very funny about it all is the fact that every phone manufacturer would usually have in the first few pages of the manual accompaning the phone, how long the phone has to be charged the first time before usage.Much to our consternation,a lot of phone users do not bother to read and take note of how to care for their batteries after spending so much to acquire a phone! This of course will eventually lead to frustration and disappointment. Some will even come to the conclusion that the phone came with a battery malfuntion.
To get the best out of one's battery, one is adviced to occassionally allow the battery to run down completely in order to achieve battery life optimisation. One should not charge the battery except if one observes a low battery warning or when the battery icon drops to its lowest level. If one follows these simple but important steps, one is assured of good value for one's money.
We are looking forward to when manufacturers will come up with phones that will be fully charged in about 30 minutes and that will have a staying power of up to five days while in use, not on standby.
There are networks with great offers, deals, value added services and fantastic customer support services. At present,a 3G+ service provider would be ideal for obvious reasons.Incentives like free weekend calls, off peak rates, intra and inter network call rates ,international call and sms rates and roaming amongst others should be considered before choosing a service provider. All these will help you save money which is what this blogsite is all about. We shall be providing cutting edge information that will assist you in making the best choices when it comes to everything about gsm.
Now, you are ready to make your first call.First insert your sim card properly and the battery too.Switch on the power button and let the phone boot properly and thereafter,do your initial settings-date,time,ringtones e.t.c.Remember to choose your billing plan from the network of your choice. This will help you save some money if you shop around properly and depending on your frequency and duration of calls. Most gsm phone manuals would normally contain recommendations and guidelines for safe use of the product. PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE THEM.

DECISIONS YOU NEED TO MAKE BEFORE YOU BUY A PHONE AND CHOICE OF NETWORK

Every Gsm Phone has on board,it's abilities and disabilities. For these and other reasons it would be wise and beneficial to you to invest time on investigation to determine what each phone has to offer or atleast have an idea of things you want in the phone before you make a purchase. For example,if one has problems with one's eyes and one needs a phone with bold prints and large screen, one has to search for one that would suit one's purposes. If you are a business man and always mobile, you need a phone with enterprise solutions capabilities-packed to the rafters with applications and multimedia capabilities. The phone has to be high on performance, features and usability. If on the other hand, one is into music and video, one needs a phone with high memory capacity and possibly with expandable capability.
Different service providers all over the world offer different tariff regimes, discounts and special promotions from time to time.Once more,we advice that if you do your investigations properly you stand to save money and enjoy hitch-free calls.
